IMPORTANT UPDATE: CANINE INFLUENZA

As you may have heard, there has been an increase in Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) cases in Oklahoma. While oftentimes the symptoms are mild, the virus is highly contagious so it’s important to protect your pet by limiting their exposure to other dogs.

We encourage you to vaccinate your pet against the flu if you plan on boarding your dogs or need to take them to public places such as the groomer or a dog park. If your pet has not previously received a flu vaccine, they will not have protection against the flu until after the second booster. Should your holiday boarding facility require your pet to have started the vaccine series, please call ahead to schedule an appointment. If you have an appointment for your dog to see us for wellness care or another issue, please watch them for signs of respiratory issues like coughing, sneezing, or trouble breathing. Please call us if you think your dog may have been exposed to CIV and is experiencing symptoms. In most cases, if caught early, symptoms can be treated at home and do not need to be seen by a veterinarian.

If you would like to learn more about CIV, please refer to this CDC Article.
